We were looking for a free campsite where we could stay with our dogs. During the long Australia Day next week, we decided to visit the Buckland Valley, about 4 hours from Melbourne, on the Alpine Shire Highway, at the base of Mt Buffalo. We wanted to spend some time here before choosing a destination for the Australia Day long weekend. Our plan was simple – pack, bring gear and enough food for the first three days so we don’t have to move. # submission completed!
Best Dog Friendly Camping Victoria
In the evening we went to Melbourne. After 4 hours we reached the Grand Alpine Road and ascended the Buckland Valley; When you first get to the circuit, you can go to Porpunka, Bright, Buckland Valley or Buffalo Mountain. Buckland Valley is a view from a typical holiday resort. The campsite is easily accessible by two-wheeler; As you go deeper, you need to slow down as you find the gravel road beneath your wheels.
Of The Best Dog Friendly Campsites In Qld
We arrived late in the Buckland Valley and followed the map to Ah Gsngs Camp. The area is a large open space with trees as tall as the city building. We knew where we were going; We could see nothing along the road leading into the camp; it was pitch black, but we could see someone had a campfire burning. It was a welcome sight after a long walk in the dark.
The local birds that live in the area will keep you awake. At midnight we heard the mill run. There was the sound of someone chopping wood and it continued for a while. Isn’t it amazing to think that someone could do something like that in the middle of the night? The next day, after talking to other locals who had set up tents, they said that Lyrebirds live in the area. Dawn was a loud noise, and the cockroaches were chirping like crazy birds. We loved them, the kookaburras sounded like they were having a party in the surrounding trees (I was in my element) and so were the boys, the smell of the forest, the sound of the wind blowing through the pine leaves, they were the smell. river and wanted to go. It’s literally a 2 minute walk down the hill and the river is at your feet.
This is a dog-friendly campground on state forest land. The Buckland River runs along it and there are plenty of swimming holes on a hot summer day. This is a great space to set your tent apart from others. With shaded campsites around the perimeter, you’ll have enough space to feel completely secluded.
The camp was full of grass seeds. I always carry pencils and dog nails as part of a “dog first aid kit” in case one of the boys breaks a nail; This can be fast when wading along rivers. There will be no other option but to cut it short.

Grooming: If you have a furry coat or a dog that needs regular grooming and you’re visiting in late spring or summer, you can ask the groomer to keep your dog’s hair short and clean. Having a good short coat will help you quickly know if you need to trim, plant or obey markings.
Light is not far away and here you can shop, walk your dog along the river and relax. This is the best city for your shopping needs. Bright Beer offers great lunches and delicious ales to quench your thirst. You can sit comfortably with your dog and watch people enjoying the river.
Grape and strawberry farms can be found throughout the Alpine Shire; Honestly, there are so many places to visit and explore to walk your dog. Buckland Valley is a great place to camp. I love to drive, take wonderful trips through the mountains with growing canes and tobacco warehouses, and now I have become a rental property.

Dog Friendly Great Ocean Road: Driving With A Dog
There are two free dog-friendly campgrounds near Bright, both on the outskirts of town (there are no free campgrounds in Bright). Both are busy on the river, summer and long weekends. You can read more about them on my free camping page.
This is a beautiful free campsite on the banks of the Meech River, 7.5 km from Light. Some camps are located on the banks of the river. In general, the campsite is easy to find due to the lack of toilets, but with the expansion of the campsite in recent years, the site has become very busy. This means I can find a campsite here on most non-event days or long weekends with no problem.
When the river is slow, usually in the summer, swimming and boating can be easily done by dogs and people. However, after rain at certain times of the year and after winter it can cause flooding, so my dog has been out for the night I’ve been staying.
There are no toilets in this camp. Campgrounds are sprawling, so the surrounding grass can be long at certain times of the year. The grass is fine when mowed (I’m here a few times a year), but some reviewers on wikicamp have reported that the grass is long.
Dog Friendly Camping
Some users on Wikicamp have reported seeing snakes, so they often live in the area (like most jungle camps). I don’t take my dog with me in the summer as he has a long double coat and would get very hot so it wasn’t a problem for me (I’ve never seen one)
This campground is also located across the river from a popular bike path, which can be seen from several riverbanks near the entrance. If your dog is a barker/biker, you may want to avoid them.
I’d say this would be a good campsite for off-leash dogs as you can walk away from other campsites (50m+ if you’re good) with grassy views, but like most campsites, people sometimes let their dogs out. walk there.
It’s a very popular camp, and I suspect that some of the city workers who can’t find a place to stay (due to the severe shortage) will live here forever.

He has a private house and other beautiful places in front of the river and other places a little further from the river. This camp is always busy, so I stayed here because there were no river banks when I looked.
There are pet friendly caravan parks in the lighthouse. Brilliant options for dog-friendly caravan parks. Some are very friendly all year round, even during peak school holidays
A popular caravan park, Crussy Campground is a year-round caravan park, about 1.5 miles from Bright Beer and the town. The Blue Dirt MTB shuttle is right next to the start, so it’s a great option if you’re into mountain biking.
You can walk to Vandy from here with your dog for lunch at a pub or cafe in town (check opening times, I’m sorry there’s no beer at the end of your walk.
