Dog Friendly Vacations Near Pittsburgh

Dog Friendly Vacations Near Pittsburgh – Planning a trip to Pittsburgh with your dog? Finding the best dog friendly apartments or hotels can be difficult, especially if you have a large dog! Many places do not allow dogs over 35 pounds. As a mother of two labrador dogs, this just doesn’t work! I get a lot of requests from readers for tips on where to stay with their dogs while in the Steel City. So I did the research for you and found the best Airbnbs for dogs in Pittsburgh.

Unlike other sites that only list pet rentals, I personally contacted each of these property owners to gauge how welcoming they are to dogs of all sizes. The six private homes featured in this post are owned by super-loving, dog-loving Pittsburghers who design their rentals with you and your dog in mind. Don’t hesitate to book a weekend break or extended stay with any of them!

Don’t you hate it when you’re looking for the perfect Airbnb or hotel and realize they only allow dogs up to 25 pounds? Not in any of these places! I do the work for you and I’m sure you and your dog will be very happy with every rental. I took into account if the places had elements that I know my dogs don’t like, such as spiral staircases or lofts that dogs can’t reach. These are places I don’t book, so I don’t recommend them either.

Another element I took into account when compiling this list is how well I know each area of Pittsburgh. All of these dog-friendly AirBnbs are located in walkable areas, near pet-friendly amenities like parks, trails, breweries, and more! In each property review, I’ve made some recommendations for dog-friendly places to visit. Oh, and all the rentals are the ones where you have the whole place to yourself. As a single dog mom, this is the only place I book on AirBnb (safer for me and the dogs!).

There are plenty of great things to do for dogs in the downtown area. Many fine hotels allow dogs and are happy to hand out fresh treats (for that stop at the Fairmont near Market Square!). You’re also close to PNC Park, which hosts Pirates Puppy Nights every Tuesday home game! While downtown dog-friendly hotels are great, sometimes you want access to a kitchen and the extra privacy you get at an AirBnB. Also, AirBnbs can often be cheaper than staying in a hotel for a few days.

This fully renovated historic home has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4. The host, Doug, welcomes friendly dogs. So far, she said all her owners have been very respectful of her home and very clean. “I’ve got a 160-year-old floor, only a few area rugs and a few dog-level dishes to worry about, so there’s little chance of damage!” The only dog rule here is to crate them if you plan to leave them home alone during your stay.

Need more space for your dog or want to stay in Pittsburgh for an extended vacation? There are thousands of great pet houses for rent around town. These are my four favorites, all owned by Josh, who told me that “pet-friendly homes are one of my home buying criteria. I bought two homes just because they had fully fenced yards and the others had to have outdoor areas for animals and be near parks”.

Josh does not charge a pet fee and has no breed or size restrictions. She also has great style! Every house has many

I love the funky decor of this house! You’ll want to fit your dog with palm leaf wallpaper and a cheerful yellow door as soon as possible. This home is just minutes away from dog friendly things up north including stadiums. One of my favorite places to go for Bert and Lucy is the Grist House, a local brewery in Millvale. Sometimes I swear there are more dogs than people! This rental home is within walking distance of the Grist House and other great restaurants, bars and French bakeries.
