Farm life doesn’t have to be simple as you can find at our 5 star guest house with stunning views, hot tubs and luxurious amenities! This guesthouse is comfortable for 6 people in one night. This is a romantic master suite, a versatile suite with 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a stunning great room with dining area and loft.
Day trip guests also have access to the guest house to use the bathroom, cool food in the refrigerator or heat it in the microwave, or relax on the patio between walks with the dog.
There is ample parking and a private entrance/terrace/guest garden. Our main houses are next to each other, so both have great views. We only host one group at a time (nightly rentals between day guests) so you have as much privacy as you want in this cozy country paradise.
What makes our dog and horse farm so special are the many features designed for 4 legged family members who are not only “dog in mind” but dog friendly! No extra charge for well behaved dogs (unless they are housebroken). Extensive fencing, multiple dog parks and pastures of 60 acres ensure that dogs are safely separated as needed.

While enjoying the beautiful property during their country vacation, guests can join our daily barn tours to interact with the animals. Meet our dog-friendly ponies and pet our cute little donkeys while feeding them the treats we provide. Enjoy fresh farm eggs after collecting them in the coop or just laugh while watching the chickens run and play.
Dog & Pony Ranch is located in the gold country of Northern California. Amador County is rich in history and small town charm, along with the area’s new “gold”: vineyards and wineries!

As our followers have heard, 2024 is our 11th and final year of vacation rentals at the Ranch, so our nightly rental calendar is booking up fast (and so is our waiting list)! More information in our announcement in the electronic newsletter. We aim to continue the day trip in 2025. We know how hard it is to leave your best friend at home. That’s why we’re happy to offer your furry friend two of our seven rooms at our pet-friendly hotel in Northern California. We want you to spend time with your canine companion on holiday, and our hotel is happy to welcome all well-behaved dogs (sorry, but we’re mostly dogs). There is a $30 per night/per dog fee when staying in one of our two pet-friendly rooms (The Cottonwood or The Stone Pine).
We accommodate no more than two dogs (combined weight no more than 140 kilos) and all canine guests must be fully groomed and at least one year old.
Our goal is to ensure you and your pet have the best possible experience, which is why we choose not to sacrifice style, quality or comfort in our pet-friendly rooms. This property was selected solely because of its pet-friendly facilities. Since all of these rooms have private front doors, you’ll find it easy to take your dog out to explore the property’s many great features. Our canine guests love to roam the yard, swim in the pool, and sit by the fire pit. Our outdoor guest kitchen allows you to cook meals on site and not leave the dog in the car.
If you have forgotten something for your best friend at home, don’t worry! We are happy to provide dog beds and towels, or food and water bowls – just ask!

If you believe your pet may have damaged something in your room, please let us know and we will remove the item. These include furniture, carpets, rugs and beds. The fee you pay is for your canine companion’s general use of the room. If there is any damage outside of normal use, please let us know and we will determine if there is an additional charge. In general, we can fix most pet bugs by letting us know as soon as they happen. You will be charged for any unreported damage.
