Note: The Merced River can flow quickly in the spring/early summer, so be careful when touching its banks.
South on Highway 41, the historic village of Fish Camp (pop. 50) sits in the woods approximately two miles from the South Entrance to the National Park. Stop for a bite to eat on the outdoor patio at Coulter’s Cafe and General Store for beer and dogs, then stop at one of Mariposa County’s most unique attractions: the Tourist Station. This lovingly named 1964 Boxcar and Caboose lets you and your dog sleep right on the track.
