Lake Bolac is a clear, fresh water lake, ideal for fishing, sailing and water skiing. It is located on the Glenelg Highway, a short drive from the Grampians. There are plenty of dog-friendly campsites here, including Bolac Lake Recreation Area, which is both free and dog-friendly. Porepunkah Bridge Holiday Park, located on the river at the base of Mt Buffalo, is full of attractions. You’ll enjoy bike rentals, a camp kitchen, a heated pool, fire pits, and best of all, a variety of dog cabins and areas. Furry friends will need to be kept on a leash here due to the abundance of local wildlife, but Rex will undoubtedly not mind as there are all sorts of new flavors to discover in the bush.
It is worth noting that finding dog-friendly cottages is not easy, which is why this is a rare place. Not all cabins here are pet-friendly, so check online, call ahead, or make sure to book a pet-friendly cabin. they start at about $133 per night. When it comes to camping costs, unpowered sites cost $30 per night, while powered sites start at $40 per night.
Nothing is more dog-friendly than a long stretch of golden sand. So why not take your bike to Australia’s longest beach, 90 Mile Beach? Seaspray Caravan Park is located just three hours from Melbourne and has a children’s bouncy cushion, extra large power stations and on-site laundry. Best of all, you’ll fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up to endless fishing, boating and sandcastle building.

After a day of hiking, swimming, fishing and surfing, guests can relax in the game room, camp kitchen and kiosk.
If you can’t get enough of the Great Ocean Road, another option is the Marengo Family Caravan Park located 2 km from the town of Apollo Bay. With amazing ocean views, it’s the perfect place to vacation with your dog. The park is adjacent to the Marengo Reef Marine Sanctuary, and snorkelers and divers can enjoy the seal colony that lives there.
If you want a dog-friendly camping holiday with everything to do, Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park has you covered. First of all, it is located on the Murray River in Gunbower National Park, so water sports enthusiasts can enjoy wakeboarding and water skiing until sunset. There are two playgrounds, a children’s playground, an outdoor pool, a general store, electric Barbie dolls and boat ramps. There is even a bottle shop that sells drinks at sunset.
Balranald Caravan Park
If you’re looking for pristine beaches, lush rainforests and plenty of bays to explore, visit the Great Otway National Park, which stretches from Torquay to Princetown. The dog-friendly campsite is located on Johanna Beach, protected by rolling dunes at the edge of popular surf breaks, although dogs must be kept on a lead. There are 25 campsites with flush toilets available for you and your furry friend. Bring your own drinking water and cooking gas as fires are not allowed and check the Parks Victoria website for bookings.
In Victoria’s Central Highlands region is Lake Eildon National Park, with its rolling hills, forests, woodlands and lake water sports opportunities. It is a perfect place for a vacation. Jerusalem Creek Campground offers eight non-electric sites where dogs can be kept on a leash. You’ll be close to bushwalking tracks and there are barbecues and toilets nearby, as well as boat hire and a kiosk. Check park conditions before you go and make your reservation here.
East of Warburton is the Upper Yarra Reservoir Park, dotted with eucalyptus trees, full of king parrots and surrounded by beautiful meadows. The dog-friendly camp offers grassy, unmarked open spaces with hot showers, flush toilets and a wet-weather hall with kitchen. Be sure to take the Fern Gully trail through the eucalyptus forest and see the reservoir from the observation deck along the Brimbonga Walk.
