Packhorse in Little Longstone is a local favorite. This is a real country inn with cozy lights in winter and tables and chairs in every corner of this old building. There is also a covered area in the garden for additional space and a wood-burning fireplace.
It’s the perfect pub for an after lunch cake or a dinner party with friends. My friends always like the pork belly dish on the menu, but I would like to know what their specialties are. The menu is usually a little different to your average pub and there are definitely some interesting dishes to try.

On the upper floor there is more of a restaurant atmosphere. On the first floor there is also a “restaurant” area with a direct view of the kitchen. We offer a wide range of dishes from the most traditional fish and chips or steak to gourmet cuisine. I love seeing new menu items like local partridge or caramelized figs.

They usually don’t reserve space in the bar, but on some days there may still be a queue. They have a varied menu with a mix of classics like burgers, pizza and cakes. They also have a menu of tapas and small plates if you want to share. I really like the open gyros, but be careful, they are so big! It’s almost big enough to share.
They are very dog friendly and dogs are allowed throughout the restaurant and bar. There is also a dog station at the entrance with treats, water bowls, blankets and even toys for your pup to use during his visit.
Dog Friendly Pubs In Norfolk
The Royal Oak is another popular pub you might want to book. It’s right next to the High Peak Trail and the Tissington Trail, but most locations are accessible by car, making it the perfect stop or finishing stop if you’re doing a big hike. There is also a campsite.
Everything I ate there was delicious. It’s a lovely, welcoming pub with good food and reasonably sized portions. Dogs are allowed in certain areas.
I can highly recommend today’s shortcrust cake or the sausage and porridge trio. I promise you won’t be disappointed with any of them. They also have a good children’s menu.
