When we inspect a location, we make sure to think about who works and why. If it’s dog friendly, we say so, but if it’s not, we don’t. So you can trust us to guide you to the best beds and biscuits at the most amazing dog-friendly glamping sites we can find. If you can’t decide where to go, contact our Guest Experience team and they will help you. We haven’t forgotten the people either. All of our dog-friendly glamping sites must still meet our overall standards of a touch of magic as well as a solid foundation of comfort and quality, or the equivalent of a treehouse foundation.

Sure, you’ve already gone on vacation with your dogs without much planning, throwing caution to the wind. More often than not, you will have encountered something. In a vain attempt to make the unpredictable even more predictable, here are our tips for a glamping break with your dog(s).
One of the best aspects of our collection is the number of places that are just as happy to see your dog as you are to take them along. While there are plenty of dog-friendly places in our collection, here’s a selection of a few that caught our attention.
About us Canopy & Stars is a small independent travel company working with small independent owners to create beautiful dog-friendly glamping sites for dogs of all sizes and levels of independence. We are an employee-owned B Corp and have created our own charitable foundation that uses a portion of profits to support organizations fighting climate disasters.
A Guide To Camping With Your Dog
Why choose glamping? Glamping is a responsible and sustainable way to be outdoors, but it’s also the kind of break from modern life that we all need sometimes. You can disappear into the countryside, without having to pitch a tent, and relax completely in the tranquility of nature. For dogs, there are lots of new things to smell and new mud to dive into, so it’s a win-win.
Our dog-friendly glamping holiday Dog-friendly glamping is almost a tautology, because going out into nature is already a fantastic dog-friendly holiday. What makes our dog-friendly glamping sites even more special is that they’re not just fun for your dogs. We select only the best places we come across to join our collection, so you’ll find amazing treehouses, cabins and other quirky places to stay. Whether they are dog friendly is almost secondary, but don’t tell the dog!
Let’s do our part for the planet We believe we have a responsibility to improve the relationship between travel and the environment. Of course, this starts at home. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact as a company and review, among other things, our suppliers, partners and transportation options. Our mission is to plant one million trees by 2030 and use our platform to help people connect and appreciate nature. You can read our full impact report to see our work to date and our plans for the future.
Can dogs be brought to the glamp? Obviously! We know of only one dog who has been on 11 Canopy & Stars tours. There are many glamping sites that accept dogs, although not all do. We have a filter on our site to help you find them and you can always contact our Guest Experience team if you have any questions.

What does dog friendly mean? When it comes to glamping, dog-friendly means that you and your dog are both welcome to stay and enjoy a memorable adventure in nature. There will be plenty of space for your dog to roam and a cozy place to sleep, in the same place as you. The owner may have their own dogs and some locations have restrictions on the number of dogs accepted, so please check the Essentials tab or contact our Guest Experience team if you have any questions.
Should I bring my dog on holiday? Taking your dog on a glamping holiday can be a lot of fun, but it may require extra preparation. It’s a good idea to have your pet microchipped and make sure you bring all the essentials (food, leash, etc.) with you. If you are traveling abroad, you may also need to visit your local vet to obtain a certificate stating that your dog is fit to travel. Again, be sure to check if the place you live has any special rules, though every place in our dog-friendly roundup should be fine!

I think we can safely say that we are living in the golden age of glamping. It seems like a new glampsite or glamping startup opens about every five minutes these days.
But even though glamping is the perfect pet, too many resorts don’t allow dogs—a piece of information that’s often buried in a “terms and rules” page. (Anyone else going crazy trying to find pet-friendly hotel policies?)

When we started planning our 2020 summer vacation, I looked at several glamping sites and wanted to create a list of dog-friendly places to share. Whether you’re looking for an adventure in the air, a tiny house or a classic safari tent, we’ve got you covered.
Collective Retreats currently has five glamping sites across the country, but it’s the Yellowstone site that has really stolen our hearts. Just an hour from Yellowstone National Park, the resort offers fly fishing and horseback riding in a stunning setting. Safari tents come with electricity, high thread count sheets, and s’mores sets. Find Fido in small print in the “prices and rules” section.
If you’ve always dreamed of owning an Airstream (guilty!), Autocamp is for you. And with bright, minimalist interiors and Ursa Major bathroom products, these Airstreams are definitely not your hippie uncle’s old trailer. Best of all, the camps are located near hot spots like Cape Cod, Yosemite, Sonoma, and Santa Barbara. Read more about their (rather intense) dog policy here.
For relaxing stays in a tranquil lakeside setting, it doesn’t get much better than Huttopia. Enjoy paddleboarding, canoeing or sitting poolside at this rustic resort. Vaccinated dogs are welcome – see under “Prices” here.

Whether these tiny cabins are considered glamping is debatable, but we love that they’re LEED certified, have private fire pits, and offer easy access to Jackson Hole. Choose Fireside’s Jeep rental package to make the most of your stay. Dogs are welcome in select cabins. Read more here.
For a truly iconic glamping experience, you can’t beat Paws Up. The 37,000-acre resort offers all types of accommodations, but the luxury tents look pretty dreamy. Pups will love the pet pack, which includes a welcome note from the owner’s dog, locally produced treats and a dog walk map, plus a dog bed, bowl and ball. See the full puppy policy here.
We’ve blogged before about how much we love Getaway’s tiny homes, and we’re checking out the new Portland location for 2020. They’re the perfect way to escape into nature while staying warm and dry. And how amazing is the designer bed window? Dogs are allowed for a fee – details here.
I can’t imagine a better place to camp than Big Sur. And you’ll hardly feel distressed, as Ventana glamping sites come with heated blankets and full access to the resort’s extensive facilities. Browse dog-friendly activity ideas and read pet guidelines here.
