There is no road that runs the entire length of the island. And from the north entrance near Ocean City, Maryland, to the south entrance at Chincoteague, Virginia, it stretches over a large country of eighty miles. So if you’re traveling with pets, it’s important to plan your accommodation accordingly.

Campgrounds are one of the most popular ways to stay in Assateague, and Assateague State Park and Assateague Island National Beach have beautiful campgrounds. Reservations are required from March 15 to November 15 and can be made up to six months in advance. but it fills up fast! So if you want to stay within walking distance of the beach, go ahead.
Also note that there are no restaurants, stores, hotels, or shopping centers on the island. If these services are of interest, there are great luxury services nearby in downtown Berlin and Ocean, Maryland.
