Dog Friendly Vacations Midwest For Couples – When we were looking for a place to stay on our recent trip to Door County with the in-laws, dog-friendly and waterfront were two priorities. We first looked at private rentals but couldn’t find anything that was within our quality standards and our budget. We finally found the Shallows Resort in Egg Harbor that fits both of these criteria. We assumed that unlike a private rental, we would lose the peace of mind that comes with a private rental and that the city of Memphis would have to be in control, but we were wrong on both counts. The grounds were a perfect haven for us and our pampered dog.
As mentioned earlier, being on the water was a top priority for us. Located on a Door County peninsula, you’d be missing out if you weren’t on the water. The shallow waterfront did not disappoint. There is a large space next to the ocean, and the room’s balcony has a front row view. We can walk out our back door. There is a small jetty and area where you can go straight into the water if you wish. On the other side of the pier you can launch kayaks. Best of all was the view we enjoyed over the water at the end of the night; One with a beautiful orange sunset and another with the look of a summer storm. Both are equally beautiful.
Dog Friendly Vacations Midwest For Couples
Whenever we can, we like to take our dog with us on our trips. This was especially important to us in Door County, where he loved hiking and a little swimming in Lake Michigan. For an additional pet fee of $40 per day, Shallows Resort allows you to bring your own well-behaved pet. They asked that we not leave the dog unattended in the room. Outside the property they were very casual with dogs and did not mind letting a well-behaved pet sit or go swimming with the owner. I’m sure if someone is abusing a dog by letting it loose they can’t control it, they have to stop it, so do so with caution. We also made conscious choices about when to let it go, like people having a barbecue. Memphis can be a fast food thief, so we didn’t want to risk it. But as long as you know your dog’s capabilities, this is the perfect place to take your dog.
Dog Friendly Weekend Trips From Oklahoma City
One of my husband’s favorite memorable moments was meeting an old man on his first day who thought he was a farmhand. Every morning they would talk about the best fishing spots, where to rent a boat, the resort and the view. Someone mentions that there was no original flavored cream cheese, so the person immediately rushes to deliver another batch of original flavored cream cheese. He regularly commented on our well-behaved dog and was very informative throughout the trip, giving us a truly hassle-free experience. It wasn’t until the last day when we said goodbye that Ryan discovered that this old gentleman was not the caretaker, but in fact the humble owner of the entire resort! He was very helpful with each of his customers, many of whom we spoke with had been coming back year after year, some for over 30 years! We have received excellent customer service with very courteous and friendly staff.
As if having a waterfront isn’t enough, the resort offers many other amenities. Our favorite is the modestly sized pool and hot tub. You have to get into the lake deep enough to swim, so the pool is the best place to swim and it’s next to the lake anyway. They also have several kayaks that you can use for free as part of your stay. All we had to do was sign them out and we were on our way. They also have a hiking trail and tennis courts, which we honestly didn’t get a chance to try because we were too busy enjoying everything else. I guess this is all the more reason to book a return flight.
Our room had all the basic amenities of a hotel room, clean bathroom, comfortable bed and enough space for all of us. They also have a TV. Which we didn’t use much as we enjoyed the facilities all day and the sunset at night. We made great use of the in-room refrigerator that hosted all the wine and cheese we brought each day. Our favorite and most used part was definitely the front porch, but since it overlooked the water, it was the preferred place to relax.
You couldn’t ask for a better place to stay than Egg Harbor, where Shallows Resort is located. It’s high enough on the peninsula to be close to other towns where most of the tourist activities are located, but it’s still not too far from Sturgeon Bay, the only town with a Walmart, Walgreens or emergency medical center. or other requirement. Egg Harbor itself has a beautiful beach, fun shops and delicious restaurants, so you really don’t have to go far to see the best Door County has to offer.
